This Beach Volleyball Party Is Last Weekend Of July

The beach party is back.
The Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) is returning to Hermosa Beach in the summer of 2020.
The tour has announced the Hermosa Beach Open tournament will take place the weekend of July 24-26. Play runs from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., on Thursday and Friday and concludes Sunday at 5 p.m.
General Admission is free, while there are ticket options for premium seating and the sky boxes.
For beach volleyball diehards, the dates present a conflict of interest, for the world’s best players will be in Tokyo for the Summer Olympics, which start that weekend.
Regardless, the event is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year in the South Bay and is one of two pro beach volleyball tournaments played in the area, the other being the Manhattan Open, known as the Wimbledon of Beach Volleyball. The dates for that event are Aug. 14-16.

The Hermosa Open takes place at the pier and turns the area into a weekend party zone. The Poop Deck bar on The Strand provides a view right out the window to the action on the sand and along the walkway while bars on Pier Plaza are buzzing with the lively patrons of the South Bay all day Saturday and Sunday.
On the sand, vendor booths – many of which hand out free samples of their products – surround the courts. On the outer courts, people walk right up to the edge to get close-up action of the players while the stadium court features the top matches, including the men’s and women’s semi-finals and finals.
General admission seating is free but it’s on a first-arrival basis and it fills up for the semis and finals. You can purchase reserved seats on the sand and in the sky boxes that look down on the action.
And, as with any pro beach volleyball event in the South Bay, the Hermosa Open means it will bring out the vocal fans from Rosie’s Raiders, the best (and funniest) fans in beach volleyball.
