3-Day Los Angeles Festival Has Booths, Bands And Beer

Fiesta Hermosa is a three-day event of booths, bands, food and an overall festive atmosphere at the Hermosa Beach Pier in Hermosa Beach, CA., in Los Angeles County.
Still, since it is such as local tradition, here’s all the details you need to know about it.
Dates: Fiesta Hermosa takes place twice a year, on Memorial Day Weekend and Labor Day Weekend.
Times: The festival runs from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
The Event: Hundreds of pop-up booths are lined up Pier Plaza and Hermosa Ave. They sell everything from clothing to the kinds of items you see advertised late at night on TV (like a beverage bottle that keeps drinks cold or hot for hours!), homemade items for the house, etc. Additionally, there are two stages with bands; at the pier there are tribute bands and in the beer garden one block to the south there’s mostly 80s rock cover bands. Yes, there’s a beer garden. If you’re single, this is where you want to be; note you can only drink in the bars if you’re listening to the band on Pier Plaza. There is a food court and kids play area in front of the beer garden.
The Scene: Each day there’s a few thousand people, but still it never feels crowded. It’s a mix of South Bay singles (again, mostly in the beer garden), and quite a few people pushing strollers.
The Bands: The bands play from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., on Pier Plaza, and from 11:30-6:30 in the beer garden. For a complete lineup and schedule, click here.
Parking: It’s so tough that most of the South Bay gets there on bicycles. And there’s free “valet” bicycle parking on the sand just south of the pier, hosted by the fine folks at Hermosa Cyclery. However, if you’re coming from outside of the South Bay or a bike isn’t practical, consider the Beach Cities Transit; line 109 goes right past the fair. Otherwise, you can try street parking but most of it is metered and residents have taken up most of the poles. You can try on and around 190th Street to the south and around Longfellow to the north; from there it’s about a 15-minute walk to the festival.
Free Shuttle: Shuttles run from Northrop Grumman Parking lot (Aviation Blvd., & 33rd St., SW corner, near Marine St.) from 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
Top Tips: The beer garden often gets lines but it usually moves fast. Check it frequently and if the line is short, then hop in it; this could be your best chance…If you like the bands at the pier, then go early with your friends and grab a seat on the patio at Hennessey’s or Waterman’s…Take a sweatshirt with you; even tho it may be warm or even hot during the day it will cool off quickly around sunset.
