The King And Queen Tribute Show Heats Up Hermosa Beach In August
Neil Diamond sang about “Hot August Nights,” but on Saturday, Aug. 6, it will be the sounds of Elvis Presley – along with Queen and a local rock band – that will be heating things up at Saint Rocke in Hermosa Beach, CA.
The Elvis tribute band Graceband returns to Saint Rocke with its big-band show headlining a full night of classic rock music.
Also on the stage is Killer Queens, an all-female tribute band to Queen, and local rockers X86. The shows start at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, in advance or at the door. And PubClub.com highly recommends getting tickets in advance because this is most likely going to be a sell-out evening.
It will certainly be lively. The Killer Queens are a five-part harmony band that plays the original band’s biggest songs – “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” “Under Pressure,” “We Are The Champions,” and well, you know the rest, all of course.
Graceband puts more than a dozen people on stage – including horns, backup singers and a guy who puts scarves on Elvis so he can give them out to the ladies in the crowd – in a high-energy replica of Elvis’ famous Las Vegas shows.
It’s a fast-beat, fast-paced, fast-to-put-a-smile-on-your-face performance that will leave you “Burning Love” for more of this band.
“We are very excited to be back at Saint Rocke on a Saturday night,” said Chris Maddox, who dresses up as Elvis and wiggles and thrusts his way around the stage and on the dance floor through the crowd. “It’s the premier music spot in our area.
“The whole band grew up in the South Bay. It always puts a little extra pep in the show when we’re back home.”
So don’t have any “Suspicious Minds” about going because you’ll be “All Shook Up” if you miss it. Don’t have someone asking “Are You Lonesome Tonight,” but be partying it up like “Jailhouse Rock.”
