On-Site Restaurants Part Of New Plan That Includes Hermosa Cyclery
And certainly one proposal would do just that, for they have asked the city for up to five restaurants, all with alcohol sales. They would also like to serve alcohol on a rooftop deck for guests and banquets.
Now we’re not talking five Sharkeez-type bars, of course. There’s no doubt some fine dining in the plans but with five locations there would surely be a fun Mermaid-type bar (or two!?) for locals to have a few drinks, hopefully overlooking The Strand. An outdoor patio would, of course, be ideal.
The developers would be wise to continue to use The Mermaid’s bartenders, who mix up best cocktails in the South Bay.
In addition to however the restaurants (or restaurant/bars if you prefer), the developers want boutique shops and also have plans to include the Hermosa Cyclery bicycle shop.
In one major concession, the developers agreed to limit the height to two stories, down from the original three. By going back instead of up and taking in Hermosa Cyclery, there will be 100 rooms, 17 less than in the original plans.
Don’t expect this to happen anytime soon. As an indication as to how slowly this project is going to be developed, the next step is an Environmental Impact Report which could take 12 months to complete.
