Lineup Includes Grateful Dead Day & Everclear

Hermosa Beach is reaching back into its hippie past with a day devoted to Deadheads and the Grateful Dead as part of its 2017 Summer Concert Series.
The free shows put on by Hermosa live music venue Saint Rocke include an entire afternoon devoted to the Grateful Dead with the tribute band Cubenses followed by Marvin Seals of the Jerry Garcia Band.
Also on the schedule is the former national big-time touring band Everclear, the wildly popular Neil Diamond tribute band Super Diamond and a band featuring Al Bundy’s wife Peggy from “Married With Children,” who is an accomplished singer.
Here is the full schedule with dates:
• Aug. 6 – Robert Randolph & The Family Band with special guests The Reluctant Apostles Featuring Katie Segal
• Aug. 13 – Everclear plus TBD
• Aug. 20– Day Of The Dead. Cubenses (Grateful Dead tribute band). Plus Marvin Seals of the Jerry Garcia Band
• Aug. 27 – Super Diamond (Neil Diamond tribute band) plus TBD
A few bands still have to be decided and several will duel it out at Saint Rocke on Thursday July 20. Four bands are going for the final two spots. They are: Rising Phoenix featuring the South Bay’s own Brazilian Bombshell Tatiana (who used to sing as part of PubClub.com’s Sunday Soirees in Manhattan Beach), Sam and Dane, Olio and The 131ers.
This is open to the public. The cover charge is $5.
The concerts take place each Sunday in August on the sand of this Los Angeles beach community. They start at 5 p.m., and go until sunset.
Some 5,000 people put blankets and beach chairs down on the sand and turn it into an end-of-weekend picnic of friends and – if you’re single and play your cards right – new friends. There’s a “dance floor” by the stage where barefoot people jump up and down in the sand.
There is some food available but most people bring their own, as well as their beverages.
