PubClub.com Tip Of The Week: The Best Sunday Nightlife Singles Bars At The Pier

So where do you go to continue to party?
Patrick Molloy’s.
That’s the most happening and best bar to go to on Pier Plaza, and PubClub.com’s post-concert top tip.
What makes it THE place – as opposed to Mermaid and Sharkeez and perhaps eventually Tower 12 – is the fact it has a fun non-stop reggae band playing, a fun and lively crowd that turns the little space in front of the stage into a dance floor, and $3 beers.

Yes, $3 beers! Any domestic beer on tap is just three bucks. If you want an import, it’s just $4. And mixed drinks are half off the regular price.
The place is crowded but not elbow-to-elbow packed, tho you’ll have to squeeze past people to get to the bar. Then just find a place in the middle of the action or a place to lean on the fringe of it and soak up the scene.
The beach concerts take place every Sunday in August, and end at sunset (about 7:30). That leaves plenty of party time for the singles in the South Bay to go out and still be somewhat coherent for work on Monday morning.
Here’s some other post-concert suggestions, primarily for singles.
The Mermaid Hermosa Beach
The concerts end after the first Happy Hour here expires (which is at 7 p.m.), so you won’t get the Drink of the Week for 5 bucks, but this fun and lively bar still has those great bartenders pouring the best cocktails in town. Several of the 30s singles from the concert prefer to start their post-concert drinking at Mermaid before going to Molloy’s.
Oh, and its Happy Hour kicks in again later, from 10-close.
Sharkeez Hermosa Beach
Watch out – this is the Black Hole! Walk in and you may not walk out until closing time. Haha. Seriously, Sharkeez has that effect on people. You may go in for one or two, run into one or two people you know (or want to know) and the next thing you know, you’re jammin’ to the DJ and already making up excuses of what you’re going to tell the boss come Monday.
Tower 12 Hermosa Beach
This somewhat upscale beach bar is due to open soon, perhaps in time for the final concert or two. When it does, it will be instantly popular. It’s located across from Sharkeez and locals are very familiar with this former Fat Face Fenner’s location.
Waterman’s Safe House Hermosa Beach
Waterman’s has the best craft beer selection of the bars on the pier and a lot of people like to go to it as a kind of a “busy but not too busy” post-concert bar.
The Lighthouse Live Music Bar Hermosa Beach
Another place with live music is the Lighthouse, and depending on which band is playing, some people love to go there after the concerts (or after the Mermaid). There will likely be a $5 cover charge.
