Smackfest Events Puts On First-Class Event In The Los Angeles South Bay

Man, did I have a good time!
Let me rephrase that – I had a GREAT time.
The second annual Beach Cities Beer & Wine Festival put on by Smackfest Events and held at Bay Club in Redondo Beach, CA, was not only beyond fun, it was “wow I don’t want to be anywhere else fun.”
Held on Saturday, May 13, there were some 700 people enjoying craft beers from Hawaii, Japan, Belgium and the good ‘ol USA, plus wines from all over California and even a whiskey shot from the good ‘ol South Bay, all outdoors under the warm and bright California sunshine.
But what really made this event rock were the people. Quite frankly, it was one of the best – and best looking – crowds of any bar or event in the South Bay. Almost as a bonus, there were enough friends to make you feel at home, kind of like the good ‘ol days of the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair where you saw people you’ve not seen in a while, and others whom you’ve never met but wanted to meet. And did meet.
What could be better?
Frankly, I couldn’t think of anything. Like everyone else there, I soaked up the scene really more than the actual beers.

Well, of course, until like all beer and wine festivals, the last hour when the alcohol kicked in and your conversations went from somewhat professional – “hey what do you do” with strangers and “what have you been up to lately” with friends you’ve not seen in a while – to “have you had that Kona pineapple beer and are they still pouring it? Let’s go and find out – cheers!”
All afternoon, there were cheers and beers, laughs and laughter. It was a party, one so good that by the end, nobody wanted to leave.
Me either!
And bring on the next one.
NEXT UP!
