25th Annual Event Takes Place February In Long Beach, CA

Here’s a rundown of the event, including its activities, food & drinks and ticket prices & information.
What: A series of games, events, tastings and demonstrations in the Scottish tradition. Games include Border Collie sheep-herding, firing demonstrations, performances by the Royal Scots Greys Calvary, LA and OC Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, and many more historic reenactments. This year features a Birds of Prey Show highlighting the falconry in Scotland.
The event begins with the traditional Address to the Haggis at 11 a.m. in the Exhibit Hall where Queen Mary’s Executive Chef Todd serves and cuts Haggis in honor of the customary Scottish cultural celebration. This is followed at noon by the Grand Parade of Clans & Bands.

Pop-Up Pub: While the Games takes place on the grounds adjacent to the Queen Mary, on Friday night there’s a pop-up pub set up on the ship. Greyfrair’s Pub will be open February 16 from 7 p.m.–1 a.m. There is no admission fee to get on the Queen Mary after 5 p.m., so this is a golden opportunity to see the ship and have a few pints.
The Ceilihd. On Saturday, this evening event – also on board the Queen Mary – goes from 7 p.m.-1 a.m.. It features beer and drinks, games, live music, food, drinks, and dancing, and more. Tickets are $10.
Tastings: Whisky and scotch tasting sessions with aged malt experts are available for $18. There also craft beer tastings and well-known Chef McBride will demo authentic Celtic Cuisine in the Culinary Corner. Link: PubClub’s Blogger on the whiskey tasting & tries Haggis.
Why A Scottish Festival At The Queen Mary: It was 88 years ago that construction began on the Queen Mary in Clydebank, Scotland.
