A Tasty Treat Amid Casual Sophistication For Mom
A smiling mother is a happy mother and your mom will definitely be smiling if you take her to Firefly Studio City for its Mother’s Day brunch.
Firefly is an experience as well as it is a meal. Seating is in a stylish rustic Spanish-style courtyard, which has a fireplace, tables against trees that make you think you’re at a cabin in the woods and even cabanas like the kind you find at Vegas pool parties.
And mom will love this – swing music plays over the speakers and fills the courtyard with an upbeat rhythm.
It’s casual sophistication and that fits right into the food. The brunch here is a buffet and the food quality is outstanding. It’s made by Chef Chad Mandel and you can tell because of the little things, such as the small round potatoes that are not just boiled and put out there, they are seasoned and sit in some type of delicious oily sauce. They are so tender you don’t chew them; you just let them kind of collapse in your mouth.
The toughest part about the buffet is choosing what you want; I wound up circling it like a vulture two or three times before diving in for the sausages (which are really good), the potatoes, hash browns, scrambled eggs, a bit of bacon, some Caesar Salad, ceviche and a slice of fresh bread that’s locally baked. And a few other things that just looked too good to pass on, quite frankly.
I then went back to the carving station for the Korean BBQ steak (I should have also had the turkey but I was starting to bulge and had to have more of those potatoes!) and really wanted an omelete from the omelete station and some crab claws and raw shrimp but what little room I had left was reserved for another Bloody Mary (not too spicy tho you can get them that way, as well as topped with so many ingredients you fill out a menu like ordering at a sushi restaurant and give it to the waitress) and one of its mimosas.
On Mother’s Day, rose mimosas are included in the $38 price. Bloody Marys are $10.
Firefly also has a three-course prix-fixe dinner menu on Mother’s Day that includes tuna tartar (first course), Mary’s Chicken (second course) and chocolate and hazelnuts (third course).
