This Special Margarita Has An Extra Shot Of Tequila

But as all locals know, drinks at Pancho’s cantina in Manhattan Beach, CA, are not cheap. It’s $7.50 for a can of cheap Tecate and $11 for a mid-sized margarita. So many people like to fuel up on drinks ahead of time and use Pancho’s as a middle-of-the-night stop in between other bars.
However, PubClub.com has a recommendation for a drink that’s kind of a hidden secret of Pancho’s and is the best deal in the bar.
It’s something called the “Dirty Maggie,” and it’s a higher-alcohol version of its basic margarita. In fact, it has twice twice the tequila and at “just” $14 is only three dollars more expensive than the regular margi.
And because they are also twice as strong, you sip them rather than guzzle them, meaning if you have say, two, you’ve spent $28 as opposed to having three or four of the regular margis, which would set you back $33 or $44. You get the same buzz – or actually a better one – for nearly half the price!
Plus, these margaritas taste better than the basic version. The regular margaritas are too tart and the extra tequila pretty much kills that, so they go down much more smoothly.
So the next time you’re at Pancho’s – the friendly and rockin’ cantina in North Manhattan Beach at the corner of Highland and Rosecrans – then opt for the “dirty maggie.” And then rock out to the music from the rotating rock ‘n roll Hall of Fame of musicians that is Day After Days, and party with the other fun people in the bar.
