Los Angeles South Bay City Has An August Full Of Fun Events

This is a change of date from what was previously announced and the change occurred when the city learned there were several other craft beer festivals taking place in June and July, making it difficult to attract vendors.
Some 20 to 30 wine, beer and spirits vendors and a similar number of restaurants are expected to be at the event. They include Bataan 21, Playa Hermosa, Lisa’s Bon Appetit, Olive Garden, LA Aleworks, Strand House Brewery, Lagunitas and Fresh Brothers pizza.
Jack Tracy and Derrick Elliott are the band; they play ukelele music, certainly a unique twist to sounds in the South Bay.
It is being held at Manhattan Beach Studios on Rosecrans Ave., next to the Trader Joe’s.
So it’s not really at or on the beach but still it’s a cool location, a local television and movie set.
The New York Street lot on what is called the MBS Campus is the movie set that was used in CSI, Scorpion, the new Planet of the Apes, as well as the new Nicky Melange music video.
In addition to beer, food and wine the event will feature artists and roving entertainers.
It goes from 2-6 p.m., and tickets are $55. To purchase tickets, go here.
The address is: 1600 Rosecrans Manhattan Beach, CA
The date change comes right on the heels of Manhattan Beach announcing it has moved its one-time top event, the 6-man beach volleyball tournament, back to a weekend for one day in 2017. The dates for that event are now Friday and Saturday, Aug. 4-5.
Later that month, Aug. 17-20, the city hosts the AVP Manhattan Open, the city’s signature event. Known by players as the “Wimbledon of beach volleyball,” it features the top stars of the sport in the world’s premier beach volleyball tournament.
Both of those events are free, tho the AVP does sell tickets for prime grandstand seating.
So that’s three big events taking place in this Los Angeles-area beach city in the month of August. But that’s not all – the city also holds free concerts each Sunday afternoon at Pollywog Park. These are sprawl-out picnic-style events that go until dusk.
