Special Cruise In Newport Beach Features His Wife, Children & Captain For The Duke’s Cancer Charity Foundation

Here’s a way to walk – quite literally – in a Hollywood legend’s footsteps, hear some great live music from a rising Nashville act, take a cruise around the Newport Beach harbor, see a sunset and have cocktails all at the same time.
It’s a special cruise aboard John Wayne’s private yacht, Wild Goose, on the Duke’s birthday, which is Saturday, May 26. The cruise is special because it benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation, a charity that is devoted to eradicating cancer.
The three-hour cruise features a performance by the Duke’s granddaughter Jennifer Wayne and her band Runaway June (an up-and-coming country music act), special guests Captain Bert Minshall (John Wayne’s captain and you can bet he’s got some stories to tell), wife Pilar and some of Wayne’s children.
Cocktails are made using Duke’s Bourbon and gourmet appetizers will be served during the event.
While on board, you are free to walk through the yacht, including its staterooms, the art gallery and Wayne’s famous card room. In addition to it being John Wayne’s birthday it’s also John Wayne Day. Not only that, but it is also the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend and the cruise would certainly be a unique way to kick off that three-day weekend.
Boarding begins at 6 p.m.,, and PubClub.com certainly recommends being there at that time. The cruise goes from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Sunset is at approximately 7:45 p.m. The yacht leisurely cruises through Newport Harbor.
The cost is $195 and tickets are limited.
