Sunset Cocktail & Dinner Cruises & Champagne Brunch Aboard The Duke’s Yacht
And in Newport Beach, you can literally stand in the footsteps of one of the giants of the movie industry, John Wayne.
His yacht, the Wild Goose, is available for harbor tours this spring and you can step aboard for cocktail, sunset, dinner and champagne brunch cruises. The yacht has three decks of woodwork, priceless paintings, intricate carvings and unique amenities, and was where Wayne spent a lot of his time entertaining friends and fellow celebrities that included Dean Martin, Bob Hope and Sammy Davis, Jr.
The Duke converted the 136-foot former WWII minesweeper into a spectacular yacht and Hornblower Cruises & Events has special cruises available between April 25 and June 16. There is also a great selfie opportunity with the Duke himself in the form of a wax figure on loan from Madame Tussauds Hollywood.
The tour goes by Wayne’s 10-bedroom, 7-bath waterfront mansion where he and his family lived and Wild Goose was docked for many years. It also goes past the high-dollar yachts of Newport Beach’s wealthy residents, scenic Lido Island and other waterfront areas, as well as beaches.
On board, you have access to the outer decks, the family salons and staterooms. Some of the drinks served are made with “Duke Bourbon.”
The cruises last for two hours.
