For those who have some True Grit, here’s a good way to spend John Wayne’s birthday: Aboard his yacht for a cocktail cruise!

Wayne’s former yacht, the Wild Goose, is in Newport Beach, CA, and its owner, Hornblower Cruises, is offering sunset cruises on and around his birthday. The Duke was born May 26 in 1907.

The two-hour cruise goes from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. (Sunset is at about 7:30.) Once on board you get a glass of champagne (cocktails and beer are available for purchase), appetizers and can pose for a photo with the Duke.

The cost is $35. Part of the proceeds from the cruises go to support the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.

If you can’t make it for the Duke’s birthday, there’s another cruise on Thursday, May 19. And if you can’t make that date, you can still take the cocktail cruise, minus the wax figure, every Thursday from June thru October.
