Annual Lobsterfest Brings In Elvis Tribute Plus South Bay Musicians Barley & Soul Shaker
The annual event, held the weekend of Sept. 22-24 in Seaside Lagoon by King Harbor Marina, features an Elvis tribute band – Graceband – plus local South Bay musicians Soul Shaker (promoter Berry Bly’s band) and Barley.
It also features 80s covers bands – Wayward Sons is very popular in the South Bay, kind of like Pine Mountain Logs – and other cover bands playing classic rock and big hits popular songs.
Here’s the full lineup of the three days and nights of live music.
• Friday, Sept. 25 – 6 p.m. – Ayline Amirayan. 7:30 p.m. – Barley (local Hermosa Beach band). 9 p.m. – Wayward Sons (adult 80s covers)
• Saturday, Sept. 26 – 1:15 p.m. – So Rad. 2:45 p.m. – Feed The Kitty. 4:45 – Soul Shaker (local promoter Berry Bly’s band). 6:30 p.m. – The Untouchables. 8:30 p.m. – English Beat
• Sunday, Sept. 27 – 1 p.m. – Frankly Speaking (metal, classic, hard rock & blues fusion). 2:30 p.m. – Graceband (full-on Elvis tribute). 4:15 p.m. – The Blockbusters. 6 p.m. – Flashback Attack.
The entry fee to the Lobster Festival is $15 per day, or $35 for all three days.
The prices for the various meal tickets are as follows:
• $7 for bistro tickets, good for the food booths
• $28 for 4 bistro tickets
•$25 for lobster or steak dinner
• $35 surf & turf dinner
• $45 big lobster dinner
The bands are set up on a stage by concrete picnic tables and temporary plastic chairs. A grass area in the front serves as the dance floor. There are also booths serving beers and alcoholic drinks.
The event is one of the traditional annual South Bay happenings for those in the Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Torrance communities. It is a very casual happening with most people in shorts and sandals.
