Old Tony’s, as much of a landmark in Redondo Beach as the beach itself, has addressed rumors that it is closing this summer after 75 years of business.
The restaurant and bar, which sits literally on top of breaking waves of the Pacific Ocean and once employed the Beach Boys as busboys, did this with one word, repeated time and time again in a YouTube video: no!
In a Facebook post, the long-standing establishment provided a little tease with these words:
Do we have plans to close Old Tony’s at the end of the summer.?
About every 10 years a little gossip goes around that old Tony’s is closing which obviously has been wrong every single time.

With bartenders and servers dressed in aloha shirts making up the potent and popular Fire Chief cocktail, it’s like stepping back in time, as if you’re walking into a scene from an old Hawaii Five-O show. Especially at the upstair’s lounge known as the Crow’s Next.
Old Tony’s a “must go to” stop for locals to take out-of-town visitors and you might even catch singer/songwriter Evyn Charles performing the PubClub.com theme song. It’s not fancy and it’s not pretentious. And, according to the owners, it’s not going anywhere.
That’s cool! There’s kind of a hut on top of the one now, which most people call the Crow’s Nest.
In 1989 I used to go to both Tony’s on the pier. The one I went most to was not the hut. But the one that’s was on the left when you walked on the pier. Iet a waitress there named Patti Burke. Was wondering what happened to that Tony’s. I know the the hut is still there and opened
