BeachLife, Beer & Wine Event & Crawfish Jamboree Jamming This Venue’s Events Calendar
In a span of less than a month, Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach, CA, will be hosting not one, not two, but three different festivals.
Suddenly, this summertime playground for families and kids has become a desirable location for event promoters. And if the massive three-day meca event BeachLife Festival is a success in its inaugural year, then it could elevate it to more than just a local level, but make it a destination for promoters throughout the state and perhaps even all over the West Coast looking to put on events.
Previously home to the now-defunct and very local Redondo Beach Lobster Festival from the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce and the long-time location for the Super Bowl 10K beer garden, its use has seen expanded growth the past couple of years with beer and music events less tailored to families and strollers and more suited to the many single people in the South Bay Beach Cities.
Last year, a replacement lobster festival brought in bands such as a Fleetwood Mac cover band and Yachtly Crew. The Beach Cities Wine & Beer Festival relocated here from nearby Bay Club.
And this year, Saint Rocke’s Allen Sanford chose Seaside Lagoon and King Harbor for his huge BeachLife Festival, an event unlike anything ever attempted in this area. Taking place May 3-5, It features major headliners Rob Weir, Willie Nelson and Brian Wilson, a craft brew village with 52 craft beers, and 40 acts. It is, without question, the Coachella of the South Bay.
The three-event “festival series” for lack of a better term, kicks off with the Ragun Cajun Crawfish Jamboree, April 6-7. This features bands all day and into the night, beers and crawfish and shrimp flown in live from Louisiana. PubClub LIVE will be streaming live on Facebook and other social media channels throughout the day and night from this event.
The Beach Cities Beer & Wine Festival returns to Seaside Lagoon on Saturday, April 20. This mostly-singles event features all the craft beer, spirits and wine you can drink in a party atmosphere that includes music by the ever-popular Joe’s Band. Put on by Smackfest Events, there won’t be many strollers at this event. PubClub LIVE will also be streaming from this event.
Look for more of these types of events to take place at Seaside Lagoon in future years.
Located at the northern entrance to King Harbor, Seaside Lagoon is a fenced-off area with sand surrounding a only-swim-there-if-you’re-a-kid watering hole and a grass area with a few picnic tables. It has enough space to accommodate a couple thousand people and is far enough away from a large residential area, so it’s easy to see why it’s such a desirable location for promoters.
And, it has the city’s support. That’s a combination that adds to its allure.
