South Bay Singles Guide To The Event Formerly Known As Frontier Days In Redondo Beach

Called the Riviera Village Summer Festival – and once known as Frontier Days – it takes place along Catalina Avenue spilling out onto the neighboring streets of Avenue I, Avenida del Norte and Vista del Mar. It goes from 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m., on Saturday, and Sunday unti 6:30 p.m.
All along Catalina Ave., there are tents and booths selling all kinds of local merchandise but the real appeal for those of the PubClub.com mentality are the restaurants that set up bars out on the street and the beer garden with bands.
The later is located on Ave. I, at Catalina Ave., and while watching the band you’re facing The Esplanade and have a view of the Pacific Ocean.
The crowd is mainly Redondo Beach families and there’s the inevitable beer-bellied guys wearing old tank tops in the beer garden.
That being said, this is the South Bay and there’s a number of single people at it, as well. In fact, often the most fun places to be are those bars on the street, and the bands on Saturday have attract a good following of local singles.
So if the sun it out and people feel like getting out on the southern edge of “the bubble,” then there will be several singles at this event.
The event is free and there’s a bike valet next to the beer garden. After all, that’s how the PubClub South Bay’ers roll- on bicycles. There’s also the Beach Cities Transit, the white bus that costs a buck and goes from Manhattan Beach to Riviera Village.
