Hundreds Of South Bay Locals Turn Out For A Big Cheers To Waterfront Property

Boats bobbed in the water in the background, champagne and appetizers were being passed around and hundreds of well-dressed people arrived as if for a special occasion.
And it was a special occasion, the one-year anniversary party at Shade Hotel in Redondo Beach, CA. This high-end boutique property hosted the affair on all three levels of its bar and reception building and it was THE place to be in the South Bay on Friday night, Oct. 13 (yes, Friday the 13th).
It was also the birthday of Shade owner Mike Zislis, head of the Zislis Group LLC.
A red carpet-style entrance with check-in tables set the tone for the event, which had the look and feel of a gala awards show. Girls arrived in elegant dresses, the South Bay men actually put on something other than shorts and sandals – some even had coats – and a spectacular sunset seen from the patios made for a perfect beginning to the night.

On the ground level, people enjoyed a casual evening under the stars with a view of the sailboat masts in King Harbor Marina while being warmed by flickering flames at the outside fire pits, or at the busy inside bar.
The real party was on the two upstairs levels. On the second floor, the mood and scene was exactly like that of a wedding reception. There were tables situated on the outside of the room and girls in attractive dresses were dancing all night to a tacky-dressed party band (they wore short and shiny jackets) and some stayed until nearly closing at 1 a.m.
The effect of the evening even lasted into the next day for some.
“I’m still having fun,” one person commented on Saturday afternoon.
