Yes, Sunday is the Oscars and several people will be at Oscar house parties, but it’s also fun in the local bars and there’s a big pre-Oscars party on Saturday night being hosted by Berry Bly.
But of course it’s not the only thing happening in the South Bay this weekend; here’s your complete party rundown.

RECREATING THE GRATEFUL DEAD EXPERIENCE
Cubenses is playing Saint Rocke on Thursday and is “recreating the Grateful Dead Experience.” It will play two sets of music for Deadheads. 8 p.m., $5 cover. The English Beat is on stage Saturday at Saint Rocke ($25).
SHARI ‘EL’ PUORTO AT THE SLIP THIS SATURDAY
She’s performing at our fun little local bar on the RB Pier starting at 8. “Some old originals, new originals and my favorite covers” are on the set list, according to Shari.
BERRY BLY’S PRE-OSCAR PARTY
If you want to do the Oscars as if you’re at the Governor’s Ball party, then get to Berry Bly’s party on Saturday. He’s got a live performance by South Bay crooner Lou Giovannetti, burlesque dancers from Dakota, a DJ, photo booth and an open bar! But don’t show up in your shorts and sandals – this is an upscale, dress in black or white affair. It’s at Big Door Studios in El Segundo and here’s where to get your tickets ($50):

LOS ANGELES VINTAGE BASEBALL LEAGUE PRACTICE SUNDAY
The Los Angeles Vintage Baseball League is holding its second practice this Sunday at Alondra Park in Lawndale. It’s baseball played the way it was in 1866, which means adult refreshments are being served. And it’s free! Starts at 10 a.m. Here’s the FB page.
