Things To Do In Hermosa, Manhattan & Redondo Beach
Welcome to the PubClub.com South Bay Party Report for the weekend of Oct, 9-11. These are events and activities happening in and around the Beach Cities.
MLB PLAYOFFS
Cubs Win! Cubs Win!!! And Silvio’s goes crazy. Those Crazy Chicagoans will be back on Friday as the Cubbies take on their bitter rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals. And there’s quite a few St. Louis fans in the South Bay, too, tho they don’t have a designated bar as do the Chicago WACCOs. The Dodgers – also without a designated South Bay bar – are also in the playoffs, playing the Mets. Here’s the weekend game schedules:
• Friday – 3:30 p.m., Cubs at Cards; 6:30, Mets at Dodgers
• Saturday – 2:30 Cubs at Cards; 6, Mets at Dodgers
• Monday – Cubs at Cards, Mets at Dodgers, times TBD
THIS WEEKEND IN THE BEACH CITIES
This is what PubClub.com calls a “bar weekend.” That’s because there’s no event like Hometown Fair – and wasn’t the beer garden awesome this year!? – so we’ll be doing our partying in the bars. It’s going to be steaming, too – 90 on Saturday at the beach!.
That makes it a perfect weekend to take a ride with Beach Cities Bike Tours!
In the bars, The Pine Mountain Logs, along with a Tom Petty tribute band, are at Saint Rocke on Friday. Tonite there’s dueling pianos with the first 50 people getting a free martini, Saturday it’s a Fleetwood Mac tribute band with the first 50 people in free if you e-mail Katie, and on Sunday a Beatles Brunch with a free mimosa and sunglasses. E-mail Katie here: [email protected].
Abigale is having an Oktoberfest beer & food paring tonite (Thursday) featuring five courses and five beers for $50, Starts at 7. On Sunday, Abigale and Ocean Bar are having “Brewtopia” featuring beers and a rooftop bbq, Noon-6.
Sunday is the “Taste Of The Redondo Pier” and it’s only mentioned here because it might give you some slight excuse to wind up there but really to go to The Slip, Old Tony’s or Kincaid’s weekend Happy Hour (3-6:30).
Sharkeez has the best air conditioning and HBYC has the biggest patio. So check out those places too!

JIMMY BUFFETT PARTY BUS!!!
Jimmy Buffett is back in L.A., and better yet he’s at Irvine Meadows. On a Saturday!!! This has not happened in several years and it’s an epic happening because Jimmy Buffett at Irivine Meadows is, quite simply, The World’s Greatest Single Day Party!!!
The huge parking lot is ideal for tailgating and at a Buffett show. People arrive in motorhomes and buses and set up tiki bars, huge blenders, active volcanoes and even bring in bands in the parking spots. We roll in on the bus, grab the drinks we brought and go up and down the scene, row after row after row, all leading up to the show.
Even if you do not fancy yourself a Buffett fan, this is all about the party, not Buffett.“I just supply the background music your party,” Jimmy himself has said.
Jimmy will be doing all his popular songs “Margaritaville,” “Boat Drinks,” “A Pirate Looks At 40,” “Volcano”, “Fins” and several more awesome Trop/Rock tunes.
This is the time to be Growing Older But Not Up and to have a Schoolboy Heart in a place where Changes in Latitudes brings Changes in Attitudes.
The blenders – BIG blenders – are churning at the best tailgate party on the planet.
Here’s the Party Bus deets:
• Saturday, Oct. 24
• Meet at noon, Hermosa Beach (exact site TBD). BYOB
• Dress in tropical attire
• Cost: $30 for girls, $35 for guys (bus only).
• Payment: [email protected]
• Tickets to the show: Get ‘em on your own; usually this is no problem in the parking lot
Where will YOU be when the Volcano blows!? At Irvine Meadows on the party bus!!!
