What’s Happening In Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach & Redondo Beach

This is your Jimmy Buffett concert primer – what to wear, what to bring and what to know about the parking lot, concert and tickets. There are a few seats left on the bus so contact me ASAP if you want to get on board!
JIMMY BUFFETT PARTY BUS/TAILGATE PARTY
We are meeting at Sharkeez Hermosa at noon. Please be prompt; we do not want to miss a moment of the awesome tailgate party! Many of you have paid in advance to secure your seats on the bus.
If you have not done so, please contact PubClub (link below) to pay – preferably cash – ahead of time. You can also show up at Sharkeez and take your chances; there may nor may not be seats. Any available seats will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Sharkeez will give us Happy Hour prices and appetizer platters (thanks Sharkeez!).
JIMMY BUFFET TAILGATE & CONCERT PRIMER
For the bus, bring a small cooler you can put on the floor in front of your seat. Fill it with what you want to drink during the day and be sure and have some type of large container you can walk around with during the day.

Also bring food; I suggest a sandwich. If you’re a great-looking girl you may be offered a Cheeseburger in Paradise but for the rest of us, we’re on our own. And you’ll need to eat at some point to soak up some of that alcohol because this is a long party day. You can also bring chairs or a large cooler for later; the bus does have storage bins.
The bus has a bathroom, it will stay at the concert the entire time and we will leave a half hour after the show. I won’t do a headcount; it’s up to you to make it back to the bus.
Now, about the fun stuff – the whole point and indeed the whole attraction of a Buffett show is the pre-concert tailgate scene. We’ll roll up, possibly to be met with Art Mann of Art Mann Presents!!!
Then it’s gathering up your mobile drinks and going around the parking lots. RVs, motorhomes and buses line up and set up beaches, pop-up tiki bars and who knows what else, and you simply walk around and party with everyone. Every time you see a shark fin, you have to take a drink! (That was Joe Anderson’s rule by the way.)
People are dressed in tropical attire and even as Jimmy Buffett songs. You do this for several hours until pretty much you hear Jimmy on stage, then we pack up and go inside for the actual concert.
But only if you want to; a couple thousand people stay in the parking lot; that’s fine too. You can use the bus as home base. About tickets, the venue has released a bunch this week and several people have been getting them on-line ($40, $55 by the time you pay the fees). Just go to Ticketmaster.com and look up Jimmy Buffett Irvine.
That’s it – Fins Up and see you Saturday!!!

Jermey Buck’s video for his new song, “Turn My Ship Around” has had an astonishing 10 million views on YouTube. Whoa! He’s playing Saint Rocke on Friday, Nov. 6.
CAREY CARLOFF MEMORIAL
Here’s some sad local music news. Any long-time local knows Carey Carloff, the musician who played at Panchos before the long-running current band Day of Daze. Carey had this little piano and was a showman – he played fun rock cover tunes with so much energy his face was always sweating, he would set his piano on fire and swing on a rope over the crowd.
When he put on those red shoes he exploded with energy, so much so a friend nicknamed Red Shoes. Well Carey passed away in his sleep this week and there’s a memorial for him at Pancho’s on Saturday, 1-4.
If you’re not on the Buffett bus for some reason, then go by Pancho’s and meet his long-time fans and friends and give him a big farewell salute.
