There’s always something happening in the South Bay and the first weekend of December provides a great warmup to the following week’s full slate of holiday events (12 Bars, boat parade and fireworks).

So get out and enjoy these fun events!

Thursday, Nov. 30

• Redondo Beach Holiday Stroll

This is Redondo Beach’s version of the highly popular Manhattan Beach Holiday Stroll, in which the streets of Riviera Village are blocked off to traffic and the shops keep their doors open in the evening. Unlike Manhattan, this one features a parade with Santa Claus. The kids love this while the adults are on the search for the places serving wine or beer. The event goes from 5-9 with the parade starting at 6 p.m.

• South Bay Jam

Local musicians from favorite South Bay bands gather for this free jam session at Standing Room in Hermosa Beach each Thursday. 9 p.m.-midnight

Friday, Dec. 1

• Montana Ave., Holiday Stroll, Santa Monica

This might be the best of the bunch in Los Angeles. Food, drinks, a band and photos with Santa. Thousands of people, too. It takes place at 17th & Montana from 5-9 p.m.

• Abbott-Kinney First Friday

The monthly stroll featuring food trucks music from 7-9 and a pretty good time with a pretty good crowd. Free. 5-10 p.m.

• Pac-12 Championship Game

USC takes on Stanford for the privilege to play in the Rose Bowl. And, despite some commentary and thoughts to the contrary, the Trojans will not be in the College Football Playoffs. Kickoff is 5 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 2

• Big 10 Pub Crawl

Some 500 transplanted Midwesterners from throughout Los Angeles and Orange County converge on Hermosa Beach for the annual Big 10 Pub Crawl. Alumni from Indiana, Penn State, Iowa, Illinois, Penn State, Michigan and all the other schools meet at Hennessey’s, then break off into smaller groups as they crawl through Hermosa’s bars before reconnecting at the Underground Pub to watch the conference championship game between Ohio State and Wisconsin. Anyone can join the pub crawl; just pay the $10 at the start of it.

• Barley At The Lighthouse

The band’s first-Saturday-of-the-month gig is this week. 4-8 p.m. No cover.

• Joe’s Band At Standing Room

The South Bay’s ever-popular party cover band plays 9 p.m.-1 a.m. No cover.

• Venice Holiday Lighting

Holiday lighting of the Venice sign on Windward. I wouldn’t haul over there just for this but it you’re in the neighborhood it might be worth checking out the scene. There’s food trucks and music. 6-9 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 3

• Hermosa Beach Holiday Tree Extravaganza

An all-day holiday event with the “Rock For Tots” toy drive concert (band on Pier Plaza on a stage like Fiesta Hermosa) featuring Jeremy Buck & The Bang and Barley, sales from local businesses and the lighting of the holiday tree. 11 a.m.-8 p.m., with the tree lighting at 6 p.m.

• South Bay Eagles Alliance On KNBC

The top game-watching bar of transplanted Philadelphia Eagles fans is Chelsea Pub in Hermosa and on Sunday nite, KNBC will be showing a video clip of these high-flying fans after the game. So even if you’re not an Eagles fan, here’s a chance to get on local TV. But you had better wear green and root for the Eagles. The team plays the Seahawks on the Sunday nite game at 5:30 p.m. The local Seahawks bar, by the way, is just two blocks away at Hennessey’s in Hermosa.

• Abbott-Kinney Holiday Stroll & Snow Party

An afternoon affair of a stroll with Santa sledding on real snow. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Brig parking lot at Palms Ave.
