This Party Report is going out earlier than usual because Pubclub doesn’t want you to forget about and miss the Holiday Open House! It’s this Wednesday!!!
HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE MANHATTAN BEACH
The season is upon us and in the South Bay it kicks off with the Holiday Open House in downtown Manhattan Beach!
It starts at 6 with the lighting of the pier (frankly, it’s not worth missing any of the action in the shops to see this) and experience tells PubClub it’s best to get there when it starts rather than trying to play it cool and strolling up at your leisure.
This is largely because there’s no way to know which places are pouring adult beverages until you go in and check them out; this is what PubClub.com refers to as “boots on the ground.” A hint is to see which shops have the most single people, of course. And avoid the strollers!
Now we all know this is basically a pub crawl through the shops, but remember DO NOT WALK OUTSIDE WITH YOUR DRINKS!!! The MB cops would like nothing better than to catch someone, yell at them for their obvious irresponsibility then go shut down the activities at the offending shop for having allowing such a brazen act.
The event goes on until about 9 and then, of course, it’s onto Ercoles and Shellback Tavern. Here’s all you need to know about this fun singles happening, the first holiday party event of the year:

BERRY BLY DJ PARTY AT SAINT ROCKE
Berry Bly is promoting the appearance of DJ Mark Farina at Saint Rocke on Saturday. “It is a special treat to actually have a DJ of this magnitude perform in the South Bay once a year,” he says.

SHARI ‘EL’ PUORTO CD RELEASE PARTY
Even tho it’s not until Dec. 5, if I don’t mention Shari “El” Puorto is having a CD release party at Standing Room, then she’s likely to come over here, confiscate the PubClub.com computer and send out a special Party Report herself to announce it.
We’ve heard one of her new songs and love it; it’s called “Six Months Sober” and it’s not about alcohol (thank goodness), but about being “Six Months Sober” from a person in a broken relationship. Very clever. And it’s a really catchy tune.
Could this be her “Margaritaville!?”
LA D-FENDERS
If you want to see the Lakers without actually going to see the Lakers (hang with me!) then the team’s D-League plays at the Toyota Center in El Segundo. The team is called the D-Fenders and it’s the NBA’s equivalent of baseball’s AAA farm team. Basically, you see pro hoops and players without the cost and hassle of going to Staples. If enough people are interested, I can even organize a group trip which would, of course, include some Happy Hour stop(s).
