I had intended to send this Party Report out by Thursday so I could mention the 310YP mixer at Shade, but circumstances beyond my control prevented if from happening. So now I’ll start with this for your Suspicious Minds, because if you’re lonesome tonite, head to Hermosa Beach.
ELVIS AT THE STANDING ROOM
Elvis may have left the building – indeed, even the planet – but his 80th birthday is today and Standing Room has an Elvis show, a 12-piece band called Graceband playing what Elvis played during his Vegas shows. Starts at 8:30.
The next night, Jeremy Buck and the Bang are at Standing Room. This show starts at 9…Looking ahead on the local music scene, Shari “El” Puorto is at Saint Rocke on Wednesday, Jan. 13 (tickets $20) and Graceband is at Saint Rocke on the 30th.
NFL PLAYOFFS SCHEDULE & LOCAL BARS
Now the fun begins for the NFL. No more having to watch bad teams like the San Francisco 49ers, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Diego Chargers, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, etc. Oh, did you hear Johnny Manziel went incognito to Vegas last week? He dressed up in a wig, sunglasses and fake moustache. He was SUPPOSED to have been in Cleveland going through concussion protocol. If he keeps this up, he’ll be in Vegas full time, as a door greeter at a club or something. Here’s the playoff schedule:
Saturday
1:35 p.m. – Chiefs at Texans
5:15 p.m. – Steelers at Bengals
Sunday
10 a.m. – Seahawks at Vikings. The Seahawks bar is Hermosa Saloon and the Vikings bar is Grunion’s, across from Target on PCH in Manhattan Beach
1:40 p.m. – Packers at Redskins. The Packers bar is the Underground Pub
THE DECK
Here’s a plug for The Deck. It has Wine Wednesday every week with 1/2 off wine bottles and live music starting at 7. You are welcome to bring food or order from Greenbelt, which will deliver it to you at the bar.

And speaking of local establishments, don’t forgot to pop in on occasion to this little dive bar with schooners of beer and fantastic food at the familiar blue awning, Hermosa & 1st Street.
