Ploughboys Play Every Thursday; More Shows On Saturday Nights
It’s not exactly St. Patricik’s Day everyday at Tam O’Shanter in Los Feliz but there’s often a touch of the ‘ol Irish spirit in the music played here.
In June, “the Tam” features music every Thursday, the first Friday of every month and every Saturday night in June. The Thursday and Friday shows are from the bar’s longstanding house band, The Ploughboys.
The Saturday night shows go from 8-11 p.m., and there is no cover to hear the bands.
Tam O’Shanter Saturday Night Shows
• June 4: Ken O’Malley and the Ne’er Duwels. An Ireland native with rich, resonant tenor voice sings original and traditional songs.
• June 11: Whisky Sunday (called this for some reason even though it’s on a Saturday). Irish folk combined with an American folk sound.
• June 25: Homemade JAM. Quintet plays jug band music, acoustic blues and popular hits of the ’20s and ’30s.
For food, there’s the Ale & Sandwich Bar menu with pub fare including the restaurant’s signature hand-carved plates, salads, sandwiches, and a cheese and charcuterie station. That’s certainly something unique to the pub food and music scene.
“One of the best Saturday night activities in L.A. is enjoying music and food at the Tam,” said John Lindquist, General Manager of Tam O’Shanter. “The atmosphere is festive, the crowd is welcoming, and the experience is simply fantastic.”
