A Free Pool Party, The Doheny Blues Festival & Temecula Wine & Balloon Event
LA’s the place to be for fun events the weekend of May 20-22. Here’s a quick look and previews of three big, fun and lively events – and meccas for singles – taking place in and around Los Angeles.
Corona Electric Beach Party (At The Mondrian Pool)
A free pool party put on by Corona beer at the Mondrian pool with music provided by EDM DJs. All you have to do is sign up in advance, bring your swimsuit and your smile – how awesome is that, right!?
The event is Sunday afternoon, May 22.

Doheny Blues Festival
A big music festival at Doheny State Park by the beach in Orange County’s Dana Point, this event attracts thousands of people in a very social, lively atmosphere.
It’s May 21 & 22 and features Lynyrd Skynyrd as the headline band. In all there are bands on three stages, a lot to eat and drink – beers, a microbrew area and wine lounge – and plenty of socializing opportunities.
The biggest day of course is Saturday and it’s recommended to get tickets in advance.
Tickets: $60 daily, $115 weekend.

Temecula Wine & Balloon Festival
Mix in a little ballooning with your wines, beers and bands and you have this annual event in a huge field outside of Temecula’s wine country.
Common Sense (Friday) and Jimmy Eat World (Saturday) highlight the bands on the main stage, which is a true nightlife attraction for people from as far away as San Diego and throughout L.A.
In the daytime, it’s all about the wine tasting, “booth hopping” from one Temecula winery to another and making social connections. There’s also a lot of beers. At dark, the hot air balloons come into an open field and fire up their “engines,” shooting flames high into the night sky.
You can take a ride in a balloon, too, if you book far enough in advance. But most people just go for the wines, beers, bands and atmosphere.
Tickets: Friday & Sunday, $23 in advance, $30 at the gate. Saturday, $33 in advance, $40 at the gate. Beer & Wine tickets are 12 for $24 and 30 for $60; wine tastings are one ticket, a glass of wine is four tickets, beers are four and five tickets. Parking: $7 in advance, $10 on site.
