9th Annual Tasting Remains One Of South Bay’s Top Events
All that remains now are the VIP tickets for the 2017 event, scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 20, at Trump National Golf Club in Palos Verdes, CA. Those tickets, sold only in pairs, are $350. Unlike the GA, they come with parking, the club’s extensive Sunday brunch buffet, an hour early entry and access to an area of exclusive higher-end wines and sparkling wines.
The event runs from 1-5 p.m., with VIPs gaining entry at noon.
The GA tickets were $85, and $90 by the time the processing fee was added to the bill. That price is double the price of the $45 for the festival’s first few years. The price jumped to $65 a few years later before making another leap to the $85 this year.
Still, one of the top events in the South Bay continues to be one of the most popular as people from Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, PV and even Long Beach seek to be sipping from more than 100 wines from throughout California as well as a couple dozen craft beers.
But what makes this event uber-popular (and speaking of Uber, watch out for incredible surge rates of up to a couple hundred dollars on this day) is the location, the crowd and the scene.
The venue is backed up to the very edge of Southern California, high on a cliff with spectacular and sweeping views of the entire South Bay and across the Pacific Ocean to and beyond Catalina Island and even the Channel Islands.
As far as the crowd, it’s young-ish, fun and at least half single. Girls are dressed as if attending a Kentucky Derby party and the gentlemen are sharp-dressed men in classy button-down shirts (tho with shorts; after all, this event is also as casual as it is classy).
There’s a band, food trucks (extra cost) and unlimited pours of wines and beers. All of these factors make – and continue to make – this a highly sought-after festival in LA’s South Bay Beach Cities.
If you need tickets or have extras, PubClub has set up a ticket exchange page.
