Dog-Lover Owners Has A Menu For Both People & Pets
Other than a clever name, it has a creative food and beverage menu, including options for dogs. The restaurant and bar features a main dining area, a lounge, an atrium and a patio.
Dishes include the Burrata and Okra, mushroom wasabi brodo with roasted okra, basil, toasted pepitas, chive oil, and focaccia; Japanese Yellowtail Crudo, mustard yuzu soy, serrano and charred tangelo; Miso Chilean Fish & Chips, 48 hour miso-marinated Chilean sea bass, beer batter fried, served with root vegetable chips; Adobo Chicken, simmered chicken thighs, steamed rice, topped with adobo broth, and side of spiced coconut vinegar; and Bibingka, a rice flour cake from the Philippines.
There are vegan options, as well.
For the doggies, there are a variety of snacks, treats and bowls on offer including a Chicken Bowl, grilled chicken, steamed rice, mixed cauliflower and Weenie-Tini, chicken broth, chicken whipped cream with a doggie biscuit crumble.
In addition to the food menu, Beverage Director Justin Gordon complements the menu with cocktails such as the Old Yeller, Sipsmith London Dry Gin, Cocchi Americano, Strega Saffron Liqueur, lavender citrus mist; Dog Day Afternoon, Old Forester 100-Proof Bourbon, spiced blackberry-rosemary cordial, lemon, ginger beer; and the San Jacinto, Contratto Aperitivo, Amass L.A. Dry Gin, foraged evergreen bitters, cava, Topo Chico.
A variety of frozen, crushed ice and spritz cocktails are also available, as well as wines and craft beers. The restaurant has also partnered with Palm Springs’ Vagabond Roasting Co. for a coffee and espresso program.
Owners Jimmy McGill, Steve Piacenza and Bryan Rogers are dog lovers and McGill is also a part-time volunteer at the Palm Springs Animal Shelter. As a result, the restaurant will have events, fundraisers and pet adoptions for the shelter.
“I’ve seen firsthand how dedicated their entire team is when it comes to providing love, attention and assistance in fostering and adoptions of cats and dogs,” McGill said.
This is a deeply personal project for the team as the concept pays homage to their past and present pets with the logo design inspired by Jimmy and Steve’s beloved dog, Striker. Striker was rescued from the Pasadena Humane Society in 1999 and for 18 years he was more than a four-legged best friend – he was a brother. His memory lives on in Boozehounds.
