Rock The Casbah Now With DJs & !Salud! Tacos
That’s the good news. The not-so-good is that it won’t have any live music until at least this summer. Instead, it will have a DJ and San Diego’s famous taco stand ¡Salud!
The club is really becoming more like a restaurant, with the tacos being served o Casbah’s patio and in Razzmatazz Room in the back. There will be no cover charge but a $6 minimum on the tacos, which is not a problem for the fans of ¡Salud!, of which there are many in San Diego.
Currently it is open Thursdays through Saturdays from 5-10 p.m., per state guidelines. People will need remain seated at their tables and wear masks when not eating or drinking.
“We’re in a good position to come back,” owner Tim Mays told NBC-7 during the pandemic. “We were able to access loans and grants, enough to see us through for months more.
“Some of that stuff is forgivable and some of it is loans we’ll have to repay, but we’re not going anywhere. I’m committed, and I don’t see what else I would do. I mean, my staff is there, my main players at the club are still all involved. They’re all in, basically.
“So we will definitely be there.”
And now they are, just without live music. For now, anyway.
The Casbah is located at 2501 Kettner Blvd., just under planes landing at the San Diego airport.
