San Diego’s Horse Racing Track Has Limited Seating For 2021 Season

There won’t be any post-race concerts this summer at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club.
Normally a very popular Friday evening happening for San Diego’s singles and young-and-fun people, it’s not happening for the 2021 race season.
There is, however, a wine festival.
Called Uncorked: Del Mar Wine Fest, it is set to take place on Saturday, Aug. 14.
It features more than 100 wines and champagnes plus food trucks, a DJ and, of course, the horse racing.
The wine festival goes from 2-5 p.m., or from 1-5 for VIP admission. GA tickets are $75 and VIP are $85. Both include all the wine tasting, admission to the track, parking (tho don’t drink and drive) and seating in the grandstands.
Tickets must be purchased in advance because the facility is not allowing any walk-up ticket sales this summer. Everyone at the track must also have a seat in either the grandstands or one of the restaurants as there is no standing or General Admission tickets.
This is all due to continuing COVID-19 restrictions. It is also why there are no Friday night concerts this year, which in the past was a huge draw brining in a couple thousand people to hear bands on a big stage and down big beers and food in a large open area.
The wine festival is a 21-and-over event.
