The dog’s life in San Diego is pretty good. At least when the owners take them to Dog Beach on Coronado.
Dog Beach is just that – a public beach open for dogs to roam, run into the water and socialize with other dogs. It is a highly popular dog park in an incredible location that has has #doglovers going to as the No. 1 playground for their canine pets.
The location is at lifeguard stand 7C. This is a mile north of the Hotel Del Coronado. It ends ends at the naval base property.
Here is a map of the location.
The area is a wide beach and a block wide with plenty of room for dogs of all sizes to roam. It is up to the dog owners to keep their dogs within the designated territory and if their pets stray outside of the legal zone, there are plenty of police to enforce the boundaries.
There is free street parking on Ocean Blvd., and a path leads to the beach. One very nice amenity at the path entrance is a water station where owners can wash off their dog as well as their beach items such as chairs and flip flops.
Access to the beach is free. Tho it it common courtesy to pick up after your pet. As mentioned earlier, there are police that regularly patrol the area.
The park is for dogs of all breeds and sizes. They all mingle together, off leashes, and for them it’s the equivalent of a rockin’ nightclub. It can also be a nice dayclub for single dog owners.
The scenery is spectacular with a view to the right of the long, flat beach to the Hotel Del and to the right the ocean and cliffs of Point Loma.
It’s hours are the same as for all Coronado beaches, 6 a.m.-sunset.
