I have been to hundreds of small-town free festivals through the years and find them entertaining enough to spend a day when nothing else is going on around the area. But one, Fiesta del Sol in San Diego’s Solana Beach, is one that has me planning to go to it regardless of what might be happening around here.
That’s because it’s bigger, more energetic and, quite frankly, better than those other festivals. The music is what really makes it stand out and in 2026 it has an awesome lineup, especially on Saturday (the Fiesta del Sol dates are May 30-31). It’s a rapid-fire round of live music that has Atomic Groove at 1:50, the tPine Mountain Logs at 3:30, and The English Beat at 6:45.
Sunday it’s Atomic Groove and The Pine Mountain Logs again (12:45 and 1:30, respectively), and Los Lobos at 6:45. Plus there are other musicans and bands playing earlier both days.
The main stage area is huge and of course there’s beer. If you want to be close to the band, you had better get your beer in hand and get to the stage a good 15-20 minutes before they take the stage. There’s also a lot of food and sponsor booths (of course) but for us PubClubbers, there are also two bars right there – Saddle Bar and Pillbox Tavern– and they are packed with partiers. This just adds to the fun atmosphere of the event.
It takes place at Fletcher Cove Park right up from the beach and across the street from the Solana Beach stop for Amtrak and the Coaster. So getting there (and getting back home) is easy and convenient.
There’s more on information the Fiesta del Sol website and you can read my Fiesta del Sol review here.
