While George’s at the Cove in La Jolla Village undergoes a renovation of its terrace level, it is having a special Happy Hour menu with extended hours in the Level2 bar area. That open-air covered space has views overlooking La Jolla Cove like the terrace so you won’t miss much visually during the remodel.
Called the “Little Luxuries” menu, check out these Happy Hour specials, which are good every day from 2-5 p.m., an hour longer than usual. All items are $18:
• Burger & Beer – 4 oz patty, truffle aioli, wagon wheel cheese, arugula + any draft beer
• Ahi Tuna “Tacos” & Mini-Marg – ahi sashimi, corn nuts, beer battered avocado + mini George’s Margarita
• Oysters & Grey Goose – 2 raw oysters, mignonette + mini-martini (sub for Moet Champagne +$12)
• Falafel & Gin and Tonic – 3 falafel, hummus, pickled onion + Gin & Tonic (Old Harbor)
• Salmon Tartare & Pinot Grigio – potato chips, pickled shallots + glass of Cantina di Lana Pinot Grigio
• Shrimp Roll & Chardonnay – bibb lettuce, Old Bay mayo + glass of Hill Family Chardonnay
Sides and snacks are also available, including a small Caesar salad ($7), George’s Famous Soup ($15), chips & salsa ($9), and side of fries ($5) and potato chips ($5). All draft beer is 50% off and select cocktails are $10.

The remodel, which is expected to be completed by mid-January 2026, involves a new floor, plus new tabletops, a new glass wall and umbrellas and permanent heaters. The Ocean Terrace last closed for a significant period in 2016, when George’s added an elevated bar area. Also during the remodel, George’s will add lunch and dinner service in its enclosed lower-level dining room on days when it is not reserved for private events.
“We feel it’s important to continue our investment in a restaurant that has meant so much to so many people over the last four plus decades,” said Operating Partner and Chef Trey Foshee. “Whether dining with us for a special occasion or for an everyday lunch or dinner, we want our guests to feel comfortable, feel at home, and feel like they will always be a part of something special and unique to San Diego with that majestic view of the water.”
This past April, George’s completed a renovation of the Level2 dining area and bar. The covered, open-air space received a new roof with five retractable awnings, new high-top counter with eight seats facing the water, new dining tables, new or reupholstered furnishings and new light fixtures.
