Lionfish Modern Coastal Cuisine is in the Holiday Bowl spirit.
The Gaslamp fine dining retaurant has created themed cocktails for both USC and Lousville, the teams taking part in the DIRECTV Holiday Bowl. Each drink is named after the schools’ respective chants, very familar words to Trojans and Cardinals fans.
The USC cocktail is called Fight On and the Louisville one is named Cards Forever.
The Fight On is made with activated charcoal, Solento Reposado tequila, Dos Hombres mezcal, agave, lime and peach bitter. The Cards Forever is made wiht habanero-infused Solento Blanco tequila, housemade pomegranate syrup, grapefruit and lime. They will be available on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 26 & 27, from 4 – 9 p.m.
The Holiday Bowl takes place on Dec. 27 at Petco Park, less than a five-minute walk from Lionfish. Kickoff is at 5 p.m. After the game, there are fireworks at the stadium as part of the KGB Sky Show.
Trojan fans in town for the game need a few Fight On cocktails based on how this season went for them. Their preseason optimism, based on a second-year high-profile (and high dollar) coach and Heisman Trophy quarterback, faded the middle of the season as Troy failed to conquer any of its last four opponents and in fact lost five of thier last six. Instead of playing in the College Football Playoff – one semifinal is in the Rose Bowl, home of many past USC conquests – they are 7-5.
Lousiville, on the other hand, has had a suprisingly good season. The Cardinals are 10-3, ranked 15th in the country and played Florida State for the ACC Championship. They have, tho, lost their last two tilts, the conference title game to FSU and the regular-season finale to in-state rival Kentucky. Still they whipped Notre Dame and although the Irish have yet to wake the echos of even Lou Holtz, beating the Irish is always a season highlight for many teams.
