If its first anniversary party is any indication of what it’s like on a regular night, then I highly suggest hou high-tail it over to Coco Maya, a restaurant/bar in San Diego’s Little Italy.
The place was swarming with beautiful people – guys, there were so many pretty girls you had to constantly check to be sure you were not bumping into a table or running into a wall, and many of them work there – in a sleek, sophistacted yet “cool/casual” atmosphere. I’m sure the girls at the bar were saying the same thing about many of the men.
The drinks were great – I had a couple of Mai Tais, which are not easy to make because they can often be too sweet or too powerful – the food was excellent (especially the crab cakes and grilled shrimp which was in some kind of delicious sauce) and the vibe outstanding.
Coco Maya is located across from Piazza della Famiglia at Date Street and India, a second-floor rooftop Caribbean-themed restaurant squeezed in between Salt & Stripe and Ironside. From its balcony, you can observe all the comings and goings of the heartbeat of Little Italy.

Even given the fact that the one-year anniversary party was a special event, I could tell from the vibe of the place that it’s a really cool spot that I will return to many times. You should go and you will likely feel the same way.
It’s website is Coco Maya – Little Italy.
