She has a dimpled smile that can melt an ice bin and a look in her eyes that hints at a bit of a mischievous personality. Plus, she can make a heck of a cocktail.
She is “Cute Kate” Sogge and she mixes drinks while mixing in lively conversations at Miss B’s Coconut Club in Mission Bay and she is PubClub.com’s San Diego Bartender of the Month for September.
“I am so honored!,” she said, also revealing a humble side to her.
Originally from Seattle, Cute Kate – she got that nickname when a bar owner put it on her paychecks – has been at Miss B’s for four years. She got my immediate attention during a visit to Miss B’s when she showed a certain spunkiness and it accelerated when she made me a heck of a great rum drink of her own creation (see photo, below). But she went over the top when a friend and I ran into her bartending the suite parties at Tiki Oasis this year. There she was, a big smile inviting us to head her way where she greeted us by taking a squirt gun and spraying our mouths full of rum. Funky and fun. That’s Cute Kate.

How Long Have You Been In San Diego? 8 years
Personality: Lively! Funny, funky and always smiling or laughing with a bit of a don’t-take-her-too-seriously side to her. “I’m a little sarcastic and sassy,” she said. True!
Favorite Drink To Make: “Something that I would like to drink, like a Tequila Old Fasioned or a margarita.”
Favorite Drink To, Well, Drink: Anything with tequila. (I can personally confirm she likes tequila shots.)
Things You Like To Do When Not Bartending: Going to the beach, relaxing, being with my friends. I love the Farmer’s Market. I do have a bike. I don’t ride it very often. I did just buy rollerblades.
