I don’t know what I was thinking except to reason that I wasn’t thinking at all.
It was a Sunday afternoon and I was wondering around Pacific Beach, the “hey dude” beach town in San Diego, looking for a party. The usual suspects – Lahaina Beach House, Hideaway, 710 Beach Club – were modestly busy but I was seeking something more lively.
I found it at a bar I don’t frequent all that much for some reason (okay, I am having fun at the other places), PB Local. It was the Sunday of the NFL Playoffs and PB Local is a Buffalo Bills bar. The place was full enough of those fans but there was more happening; lots of those beautiful PB locals were in there, too. More were wanting to go in, for there was a line down the block to get into the place. As I surveyed the situation, a group of six – six! – sexy girls hollered at me to get my attention. I had taken a photo of the scene and they wanted me to take their picture.
Which I quickly obliged and you would have too, had you seen them. My immediate instinct was to get in line behind them but I figured if girls that good looking had to wait, what chance did I have to get in the bar?

Now here’s the strange thing. I went back an hour or so later and there was a very short line that was moving. I was to the front in seconds ready to walk in, and that is when I did something that was a mistake. I balked at paying a $5 cover charge. I would’t pay five bucks!
I don’t know what came over me; the game was over but the bar was still busy. So I wandered around a bit, not finding anything and then eventually called it a day and retreated home. I was so disappointed in myself, I couldn’t stand it. Rather than rectify the situation by going back, I let the stubborn Leo get the best of me.
On the upside, I do recognize and acknowledge my mistake. I can’t say I won’t do something equally as dumb again but hopefully my bar instincts will better serve me in similar circumstances.
Cheers!

Fortunately, PubClub.com can – and will – go back again. That bar has Labatt beer from Canada, which PubClub likes, because it’s a Buffalo Bills bar and Labatt sells in Buffalo. Cheers!
Wow, this post really hit home! I totally get the feeling of missing out on a good bar experience—Pacific Beach has so much to offer. Your insights make me want to explore more places around there. Did you have any favorite drinks or snacks from your time at the bar?
