Gaslamp Quarter Party To Be Held Day Before Super Bowl Sunday
The mini-Mardi Gras party and parade in San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter has been moved for 2016 from Fat Tuesday to the previous Saturday.
That puts it on Feb. 6 – Fat Tuesday is Feb. 9 – the day before another party: Super Bowl Sunday.
“Moving to Saturday marks a whole new adventure for the Gaslamp Quarter Mardi Gras Parade and Celebration,” said Laurel McFarlane, CEO of McFarlane Promotions and director of the Gaslamp Mardi Gras.
“We are now able to add the Tin Roof Live Music Stage as well as the Silent Disco stage to the venue, which we are excited to debut on February 6th.
“We have created a new lineup of live art performances in addition to dynamic new areas to complement the areas our attendees have grown to know and love, like the hip hop stage and EDM stage.
“We are looking to bring an entire weekend of business and revenue generation to the Gaslamp Quarter. Our attendees can dine out and shop throughout the weekend, celebrate at Mardi Gras on Saturday, and enjoy the Super Bowl on Sunday.”
The San Diego Fat Tuesday celebration is a block party in the dynamic Gaslamp Quarter, consisting of DJs, dancers and the highlight, a parade down 5th Ave., that – if you lose your train of thought for a moment which is quite possible – you might think you are in New Orleans.
It is a ticketed event; prices are $35 thru Jan. 10, $40 thru Jan. 24, $50 thru Feb. 5 and $55 on the night of the event.
The party goes from 6 p.m.-midnight. Of course, the bars are open until 2 a.m.
