A block party is coming to San Diego.
It’s taking place at Music Box, a live music venue just north of Little Italy and the band is one that will have people partying as if they were on a yacht in San Diego Bay.
The band is Yächtley Crëw, which plays a genre of music known as yacht rock (a twist on the Jimmy Buffett-inspired Trop Rock category). Yächtley Crëw is probably the only band that covers the theme song to The Love Boat and does a hilarious version of the Pina Colada song (“Escape”). People dress in white, in nautical attire and the band usually tosses out captain’s hats to the pretty girls in the crowd.
The block party is the celebrate Music Box’s ninth anniversary and it is Saturday, Sept. 14. India Street will be closed off between West A Street and Ash Street.
