St. Patrick’s Day in San Diego will not ever be confused with the huge and famous celebrations in Chicago, Boston or New York, but it is a fun place to be for Irish for a day. Or a weekend in this year’s case as St. Paddy’s Day is on a Sunday.
Here is a breakdown of food & drink specials in several San Diego restaurants and bars for St. Patrick’s Day.
In Pacific Beach – which is full of thirsy lasses and lads on St. Paddy’s weekend – Duck Dive has a Corned Beef Egg & Hash breakfast special with of house-made corned beef, crispy potatoes, cheddar cheese, salsa verde and two over-easy eggs. For lunch and dinner, there is the traditional Corn Beef Hash with cabbage and potatoes. Drinks include Jameson & Shanky’s Whip Cold Brew Martinis, Irish Slammers, green beers, and green tea shots, open to close. Duck Dive will celebrate St. Patty’s all weekend long, starting on Thursday, March 15.

In the Gasamp Quarter, the popular barleymash is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on March 17. It has the Barley Reuben with house made corned beef, green apple sauerkraut, 1000 Islands and Swiss cheese, served on rye bread with Kennebec chips. St. Patrick’s Day themed cocktails include Lucky & Charmed made with Jameson, cold brew and magical marshmallow-infused oat milk; Pot of Gold, with Jameson, honey, lemon, and gold; and the Dublin Old Fashioned with Jameson, sugar, Angostura Bitters, and Orange Bitters. Barleymash will also have DJs, giveaways, and lots of green beer.

On March 17, The Smoking Gun, has Jameson flight boards and corned beef tacos filled with shaved corned beef, green cabbage, smoked onions and a one-of-a-kind Jamison honey-mustard.

At Lionfish in the Pendry Hotel, it is having $5 shots of Jameson and green beer on Sunday.
Elsewhere, NOVO Brazil Brewing Company is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at its Chula Vista headquarters and taproom on Friday, March 15 starting at 5:30 p.m, with music from rock, punk and blues band The Agents of Apollo, followed by DJ Qenoe. Food vendors for the evening include San Diego favorite Cali BBQ, along with Rico Rico Snack Bar and El Rey Tacos a Vapor. In addition to (green) beer selections, hard and non-alcoholic kombucha from NOVO’s sister brand NOVA will also be available
Grind & Prosper Hospitality plans to host a variety of classic St. Patty’s beverages, alongside its very own creation, at the following restaurants and bars: Miss B’s Coconut Club, Louisiana Purchase, PRK 101, Coco Maya, Q&A Restaurant and Oyster Bar, and Cococabana.
San Diego St. Patrick’s Day Events
The day starts with a St, Patrick’s Day parade and Irish Festival in front of the Balboa Park Sixth Street entrance.
