After beating the hated rival Dodgers in the playoffs last year, an event that set off a celebration rarely seen in this city – anticipation is at an all-time high for the 2023 season. And the bars are smart enough to take advantage of this enthusiasm. Here’s a rundown of San Diego Bars having opening day and game-day specials throughout the 2023 season. The Padres Open Day is Thursday, March 31, against the Colorado Rockies. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
In the Gaslamp, the ever-popular barleymash will host a day of food, drinks and giveaways. On Friday, March 31, barleymash will be hosting a Game 2 Redo, with a free hat for the first 100 guests, and DJ’s and specialty cocktails.
Also ultra-popular in the Gaslamp, The Smoking Gun has all-you-can-eat wings from 2-9:30 p.m., for $21.99.
In Little Italy, just a short trolley ride from Petco Park, Coco Maya is hosting pre-party brunch before the game. Those wearing Padres gear get 20% their tab. Available all day on Opening Day, and in the two hours preceding first pitch for all other home games – there are $7 Soto Smash Cocktails with Templeton Rye or Corralejo Reposado Tequila plus ginger syrup, fresh lemon juice, agave and basil; $5 Thorn Barrio Lagers and In Love with the Coco IPAs and $5 Home Run Shots with Skrewball, Blanco tequila, passionfruit, agave and lime.
In Mission Beach, Sandbar Sports Grill, across from Belmont Park and less than a block from the beach, is always on its A-game when it comes to baseball season. On Opening Day, guests can enjoy a one-way bus ride to the game at 11:00 a.m., a ticket to the game, a hot dog, drinks provided on Sandbar’s sky deck, as well as drinks on the bus – all for just $100! Looking to watch Opening Day from Mission Beach? Miss B’s Coconut Club is a tropical dream best served with a side of Padres baseball. Enjoy $10 beer/shot specials, along with $5 Estrella bottles. While not available on opening day, Miss B’s will feature themed cocktails throughout the season based on fan-favorite Padres players. Pair with Caribbean-style bites just a block from the beach.
In PB, Mavericks Beach Club is happening whether or not the Padres are playing. For the there are 38 TV and food includes Wings, Buffalo Fries, California Fries, Shrimp Tempura, Ahi Nachos and a Citrus Shrimp Bowl.
In Carlsbad Village, Park 101’s open-air venue has $5 LFGSD IPAs, $5 .394 Hazy IPAs, and $5 shots of Skrewball, Jameson, and Altos and a a Jumbotron LED-screen and many other TV screens throughout the venue.
Anther place to watch the games is Novo Brazil Brewing Company at its Otay Ranch Mall Ballpark-type food on the menu includes carne asada fries, carne asada nachos, hot dogs, sausages, and burgers.
