It’s true and one of the two spots, Rob Hill Campground in the scenic Presidio, is now taking reservations. It is open April 1-Oct. 31.
Located on four wooded acres in the Presidio, Rob Hill Campground is a secluded spot tucked away in a grove of cypress and eucalyptus trees with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and nearby trails and overlooks. It offers a one-of-a-kind national park camping experience at the edge of San Francisco.
Each of the four group campsites can accommodate up to 30 people and are equipped with a fire ring, a charcoal BBQ grill, two food storage lockers, four picnic tables, and each comes with four parking permits. Shared resources include water faucets, restrooms, an indoor scullery for washing dishes, bike racks and refuse receptacles.
The cost is $132 per site, per night during peak times and $87 per site, per night during off-peak nights. To make reservations, to go Recreation.gov.
“We’re happy to welcome visitors to enjoy another season of great camping experiences in the Presidio,” said Presidio Trust Visitor Services Manager Andrea Parker. “It’s especially exciting to see Rob Hill join the list of other national park campgrounds serviced by Recreation.gov, for real-time online reservations.”
The reservation system, new to the campground, will greatly streamline the booking process, making it more convenient and flexible for campers to arrange their visits. Reservations will be available on a first-come, first-served, six-month rolling basis beginning March 14 7 a.m.
Rob Hill Campground is located at 1475 Central Magazine Road, San Francisco.
The Presidio + Presidio Trust
The Presidio is one of America’s most visited national park sites located within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Spanning 1,500 acres next to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge, the Presidio is among the most biologically diverse parks in America. Historically a home to native peoples and a military post under three flags, its facilities have been reinvented as museums, restaurants, hotels, homes, and offices.
The Presidio Trust is the federal agency that stewards the Presidio, in partnership with the National Park Service and with support from the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. The Trust sustains the Presidio by leasing homes and workplaces and offering visitor amenities.
It’s website is presidio.gov.
