There are many things to do in Santa Barbara for New Year’s Eve.
There’s a champagne cruise, a pub crawl, NYE with the symphony and even a Pajama Jam. And there is also an outdoor celebration, a six-course dinner and a Bloody Mary bar on New Year’s Day at the Hotel Californian.
Here is a rundown of those activities at the latter.
Blackbird’s Indulgent Six Course Dinner

New Year’s Eve at the Hotel Californian kicks off with a six-couse dinner at its Blackbird’s restaurant curated by Chef Travis Watson. The prix-fixe menu celebrates the culinary richness of the Central Coast, featuring delightful dishes from an amuse-bouche of roasted butternut squash with braising greens and crispy parmesan to the decadence of local lobster, sous vide filet mignon, roasted carrot Wellington, and roasted beet risotto, culminating in a dark chocolate gallet dessert. Optional wine selections are available to enhance the dining experience, along with inventive cocktails crafted by legendary mixologist Devon Espinosa. Santa Barbara’s First Fully-Outdoors NYE Celebration
9p.m.-1:00 a.m.
Hotel Californianis hosting the first fully-outdoors event in Santa Barbara’s history for New Year’s Eve. It will take place on the Serena Rooftop, overlooking the Court of Califia’s main stage against the backdrop of Pacific palms and the peaks of the nearby Santa Ynez Mountains. Headlined by Crush Club, the Los Angeles-based disco house dynamo, the event is night of music and energy (21-and-over only). Four ticket tiers are available, starting at $35 for General Admission and reaching $170 for VIP Lounge access offering seating, premium views, and complimentary champagne. New Years Day Bloody Mary Bar at Djinn
10 a.m-1: p.m.
On New Year’s Day, Djinn, the hotel’s vibrant library bar invites guest to continue the celebration with a hair-of-the-dog DIY Bloody Mary Bar from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Named after the mischievous spirits of Moroccan folklore, Djinn allows guests to personalize their drinks with a variety of spirits, mixes, and unique accoutrements. There is no charge to join; guests will pay per drink while enjoying the rhythmic vinyl tunes curated by Val-Mar Records. Reservations are encouraged and can be made here.
On New Yar’s Eve, Djinn will maintain its normal service with extended hours until 1 a.m.
