Chillin’ In The Conch Republic

While you are out rushing to shopping malls, spending time on-line and then panicking over whether or not those gifts will arrive on time and freezing in rain and snow, Santa Claus is taking it easy in Key West.
PubClub.com captured this photo of him relaxing in a hammock in the Conch Republic. If he’s concerned at all about his big night on Christmas Eve, he’s sure not showing it here. From this pic, it looks like he’s snoozing without a worry in the world.
His sleigh must be tied up to a dock like a boat and his reindeer are probably prancing around the Lower Keys with the keys deer.
Santa looks so relaxed it’s easy to wonder if he’s going to get a case of Keys Disease and never actually make it down chimneys around the world.
You know what Keys Disease is, right? It’s a condition that affects many people who visit this part of Florida. They come to the Conch Republic for a few days on vacation and become residents. They never leave. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen to Santa.
Perhaps he will awaken in time to take part on the nightly sunset ritual on Mallory Square.
Have drinks in the legendary bars like Captain Tony’s Saloon and Sloppy Joe’s. Stumble into breakfast at Louie’s Backyard. Have some Key Lime pie. Ride the Conch Train.
See if his face is on any t-shirts in any of the dozens of t-shirt shops on Duval Street. Pop into Jimmy Buffett’s small studio and record a new version of “Mele Kalikimaka.”
One thing is for sure: Santa loves Key West!
