MM20 Restaurant Is ‘Up And Running Strong’

A Florida Keys landmark is back open after suffering extensive damage from Hurricane Irma.
Mangrove Mama’s restaurant, a favorite stop for regular travelers along the Overseas Highway for its seafood dishes and especially Key Lime Pie (known to be among the best in the Keys), is serving up meals and drinks along with live entertainment from Keys musicians.
PubClub.com received this message from Mangrove Mama’s: “The restaurant is up and running strong. No worries were strong and resilient! Glad to be back serving our community!”
In the wake of Irma, Mangrove Mama’s was nearly totally destroyed. About all that was left was its familiar yellow road sign. Now, tho, the buildings are back and the place is buzzing with patrons and live music.
Located a MM20 just to the north of Key West, Mangrove Mama’s has been on Sugarloaf Key for more than 30 years. Open for lunch and dinner, it’s most popular dishes are Shrimp St. Jacques, Cracked Conch, Mama’s Conch Chowder and, of course, it’s Key Lime Pie.
It also makes a fantastic potato salad as a side dish. And, according to some regulars, fantastic pizza.
Not a fancy place, it has a small inside dining area, outside tables and a bar called “Captain Eddies Hideaway.” Live music happens out here and the restaurant and bar are dog-friendly, so you might see a few pooches on the property.
Turn into the non-paved lot and park by the palm trees.
