Getting arond Miami and Miami Beach, be it for going to different places or bar hopping, has never been easier. Yes, there are rideshares Lyft and Uber, but there are also ways to get aruond for free.
For getting around on land, there is Freebie which, just as the name implies, is free. It serves Miami, Miami Beach and in fact, several other cites in Florida, among them Key Biscayne, Coconut Grove, Islamorada Island of Villages. St. Joe and all the way up to St. Pete Beach.

It is similar to free rideshare services in other US cities (Circuit one) in that you download an app (for free) and request a ride. Once in the vehicle, you sometimes have to ride around while it picks up other drivers until the vehicle is full. So it’s not an Lyft or Uber; it’s free. Once you get to your destination, you should tip your driver. A good parameter to use is $2-5 per person.
For getting around on land, there is Water Taxi Miami. It goes between South Beach and Bayside Marketplace in downtown Miami. It departs every half hour and provides a scenic way to navigating between Miami Beach and the mainland. No alcohol is allowed on board and of course you can’t be inebriated, so keep those things in mind.
So tell your friends to “meet me in Miami, Mi-ami,” and take advantage of these free transportation services.
