Hawaii Tiki Theme Just Part Of This Honolulu Attraction

Let it be stated for the record that I love dive bars.
And also let it be known that I’m no trend guy. Just because dive bars have become “in” places (I credit $15 “specialty cockatails” at places that suddenly have become high-end lounges) doesn’t mean I follow the passing interest. I have always loved – and always will love – dive bars.
And I’ve found one in Waikiki Beach.
Yes, Wakiki Beach, the place that’s been so full of tourists it’s ready to explode. But I’m not knocking Waikiki Beach because I truly love Waikiki Beach. And if you know where to go you can experience places like Arnold’s.
The moment I walked into it, located at 339 Sarasota Road which is a left turn past the Hard Rock on Kalakaua Ave., I loved it.

It’s a dive bar with a tiki theme. I’m in Waikiki; how could I not love it!?
There is a patio, and what dive bar has patio!? Usually, dive bars are dark and enclosed. This one is open to the air, as if it’s opening its arms to anyone who passes by it.
And, if fact, it does to anyone who enters it, for Arnold’s is a dive bar for anyone with the Aloha spirit. I loved the naked breasts of the girl under the Budweiser sign, the bench upstairs, the total tiki atmosphere but most of all the people in the bar.
I went in on a slow weeknight but wait until my return visit! It’s Happy Hour starts at 9 a.m., for cryin’ out loud!
Okole Maluna!
