Indiana is an incredible thriving city unlike any other! Although every part of the city is great, if you’re in the area, you will hear about the Indianapolis Circle or the Monument Circle. Busiest around lunchtime, or when events and fun is happening, you’ll fall in love with the activity of this area and want to visit time and time again. There’s no place quite like Indianapolis, and the Circle proves it!
What To Do
From the delicious strawberry fest in the spring to the Circle of lights when winter holidays approach: visitors are always amazed at how much there is to do within the Circle. This spot in the city center sees a lot of excitement and is within a short drive to everything from the Soldiers and Sailors Monument to the Eiteljorg Museum. If you’ve never been to Indianapolis, you’ll want to give the city a try sometime soon!
What To See
The Indianapolis circle has a lot of events year-round. At least once a month, there’s a fun art walk where you can see local creatives put their skills on display. In the summer, there are also countless live performances by musicians, theater groups, and other fun that makes the season even more fun. You can learn a lot about the city and the people who live there by simply getting to spend some time in the Indianapolis circle.
How Do I Get There?
This Monument Circle is nearly at the city’s center and is more easily reached by following West Washington Street. Luckily, Indianapolis follows a clear grid, and this can be used to guide you through the city without worrying about too many wrong turns or winding roads. If you’re new to the area, it’s still advised that you use a maps app on your phone or ask a local to guide you there.
Why’s It Called The Circle?
The Circle has been through a lot of different branding to make it what it is today. The center of the Circle was supposed to be a monument to one of the first mayors of the city. The mayor’s home was going to be built there to be within reach of the people the mayor is supposed to help every day. This was eventually taken down, and instead, the space is used for the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, with a statue portraying Victory, who’s been nicknamed ‘Miss Indiana.’ It’s called the Circle because it’s around a place where everyone in town can gather.
Where To Eat
There are plenty of restaurants in the Circle! From Italian at Buca di Beppo to tasty treats at the Yard House, you can find food to match any diet or wallet’s needs. The food here is good enough that one bite will have you looking for houses for rent in Indianapolis. Although some can be expensive, you can check their menus online if you’re worried about breaking your budget.
Indianapolis is an amazing city unlike any other, so don’t be shy about stealing a visit!
