The Monorail Offers The Best Choice For New Year’s Eve FIreworks Party
The Strip is closed to traffic due to the block party and fireworks show and there are huge lines for the taxis. Also, Las Vegas does not allow for Uber and Lyft rides.
So what is one to do in order to get to the casinos, bars, clubs and the Strip for the awesome block party? And, just as importantly, back to the hotel after the casinos, clubs, bars and awesome block party?
Well, one alternative is to take the Las Vegas Monorail.
It is operating for 44 straight hours, all through New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and until 3 o’clock in the morning on Saturday.
The Monorail can be caught from behind the hotels on the west side of the Strip from MGM Grand to the SLS Hotel. It’s a quick, cheap and efficient way to move up and down The Strip anytime you’re in Vegas, and especially NYE. The Monorail is $10 for a one-day pass, $19.28 for two days, $25.20 for three days.
After NYE, you can also take The Deuce, a bus that runs up and down The Strip. It’s called The Deuce because it used to cost two bucks a trip. It’s now $6 for two hours ($8 for 24 hours) so if there’s three or more of you and you’re only using it once, you’re better off taking a taxi.
In fact, for groups, taxis are generally the best way to go – or grab one of those limos that are waiting outside of the taxi lines – although on NYE, PubClub.com does suggest taking the Monorail.
Most importantly, the biggest tip for getting around Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and through the weekend is to wear comfortable walking shoes. Girls, you can put those clanking high heels for the clubs in your purse to walk.
